Plex London
Life Extension Bridge
Plex London was conceived as a visionary public‑health initiative responding to the escalating mental‑health crisis in the capital, where one in four Londoners experience a diagnosable mental disorder each year. The project proposed a new model of open, co‑created digital self‑care, inviting citizens to collaborate directly with clinicians, technologists, and behavioural‑health experts to build personalised wellbeing tools.
The concept centred on three interconnected public spaces: The Open Mind Gallery, a digital exhibition space showcasing interactive works on human enhancement; The Open Innovation Hub, where Londoners could co‑design self‑care apps with experts; and The Future Self Lab, a drop‑in diagnostic and rehabilitation environment supporting self‑management of mental‑health conditions.
Plex London’s broader vision was to create the world’s first Life Extension Museum — a proactive lifestyle infrastructure spanning the Thames, designed to shift public health from reactive treatment to preventative, community‑driven innovation. By harnessing the “wisdom of the crowds,” the project demonstrated how public engagement, digital health, and open innovation could reshape preventative care for millions of Londoners.
This work sits at the intersection of service design, public health strategy, and digital co‑creation, offering a powerful model for how design can address systemic social challenges.
